Camuso CPA is a digital asset tax and accounting firm founded in 2016. We work exclusively with cryptocurrency investors, Web3 founders, and prediction market traders. Every engagement is led by Patrick Camuso, a Forbes Best-In-State Top CPA and the only cryptocurrency-focused CPA on the 2025 Forbes list.
Nationally Recognized Crypto CPA Since 2016 and the first CPA firm in the U.S. to accept cryptocurrency for professional services.

Trusted Cryptocurrency CPA. Results That Stand the Test of Every Market Cycle.
Patrick Camuso started this firm after recognizing a gap that no one else was filling. In 2016, there was no CPA firm in the country built specifically for digital assets. Traditional firms were ignoring crypto. The few that touched it were applying conventional frameworks to unconventional assets and producing bad results.
Camuso CPA was the first CPA firm in the United States to accept cryptocurrency for professional services. That was a statement of commitment, not a marketing gimmick. We built our practice inside the digital asset ecosystem from day one because that was the only way to develop the expertise our clients actually needed.
Since then, we have advised investors and operators through multiple market cycles, enforcement waves, and regulatory transitions. We have reconstructed cost basis spanning a decade of missing records. We have resolved six- and seven-figure IRS disputes. We have built accounting systems for Web3 startups from chart of accounts through investor-grade financials. And we have done it all within a single focus, digital assets.
Today, our work covers cryptocurrency tax preparation and planning, cost basis reconstruction and historical accounting remediation, Form 1099-DA compliance and reconciliation, IRS notice response and audit defense, Web3 startup accounting, prediction market tax reporting, and Web3 sales tax compliance. We serve high-net-worth investors, DeFi traders, multi-chain operators, Web3 founders, and prediction market traders across the country and globally.
Our analysis on Form 1099-DA, IRS enforcement frameworks, and prediction market taxation has been cited in Bloomberg Tax, Business Insider, and Marketwatch. We established dedicated prediction market tax reporting services before any other CPA firm in the country. And we are preparing our clients for the structural shift to third-party broker reporting with form 1099-DA that defines the Digital Asset Compliance Era.
Meet Patrick Camuso | Founder, Cryptocurrency CPA
Patrick Camuso is the founder and managing member of Camuso CPA. Before launching the firm, he worked at Deloitte, where he consulted with premier asset managers on financial accounting and fund taxation. He holds degrees in both Accounting and Finance from Montclair State University.
As an early adopter of Bitcoin, Patrick recognized the structural gap between traditional accounting and the emerging digital asset economy. He built Camuso CPA to fill it, creating one of the first practices in the country dedicated exclusively to cryptocurrency tax, accounting, and advisory.
Patrick serves on the AICPA Digital Asset Task Force, shaping how the accounting profession approaches cryptocurrency taxation at the national level. He has published on Form 1099-DA in Tax Notes, the leading tax policy publication in the country. He is the author of The Crypto Tax Handbook, the professional-standard reference for digital asset taxation and compliance, and the author of the first published book on Web3 sales tax compliance. He created and teaches the first CPE-accredited course on NFT and crypto sales tax.
Patrick hosts The Financial Frontier, a podcast and video series featuring former IRS senior advisors, tax policy attorneys, academic researchers, and crypto tax software founders on the policy, compliance, and enforcement questions shaping the digital asset industry. He publishes The Digital Asset Digest, a newsletter on cryptocurrency tax, compliance, and Web3 accounting developments.
Patrick Camuso’s work in digital asset taxation has been published in Tax Notes alongside a former head of the IRS Office of Digital Assets and co-author of the Section 6045 digital asset broker regulations, and has been covered by Bloomberg Tax, Accounting Today, Business Insider, MarketWatch, Morningstar and other major publications. He has spoken at ETHDenver and leading Web3 conferences on the structural shifts defining digital asset compliance.

Camuso CPA FAQ's
We work exclusively with cryptocurrency investors, Web3 founders, and prediction market traders. Our clients include high-net-worth individuals with complex multi-wallet portfolios, DeFi and NFT participants, Web3 startups and protocols, DAOs, digital asset funds, mining operations, and Polymarket and Kalshi traders. We do not take on clients outside of digital assets.
Yes. We serve clients nationally and globally. Our offices are in Charlotte, NC and Knoxville, TN, but the majority of our clients are located across the United States and internationally. All of our work is conducted remotely with secure document sharing and direct access to Patrick throughout the engagement.
Patrick Camuso leads every engagement directly. This is not a firm where a partner sells the work and a junior associate does it. The person who serves on the AICPA Digital Asset Task Force, publishes in Tax Notes, and has reconstructed cost basis across thousands of wallets is the same person reviewing your returns and advising on your tax strategy.
That is a significant portion of our practice. We routinely reconstruct 5 to 10+ years of missing or incomplete transaction history across dozens of wallets, exchanges, DeFi protocols, and chains. We have resolved six- and seven-figure IRS disputes for clients who came to us with years of unfiled returns or inaccurate prior filings.
We use fixed-fee pricing scoped upfront based on the complexity of your situation. There are no hourly billing surprises, no charges for phone calls, and no unexpected fees. You know the cost before the engagement begins.
Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons clients come to us. Over 90% of the crypto portfolios we review contain errors, missing data, or tax misclassifications, whether prepared by the client, by software, or by another firm. We reconstruct the accurate picture and amend prior returns where necessary.
Software automates data aggregation. It does not make judgment calls on tax characterization, resolve ambiguous DeFi positions, reconstruct missing cost basis from fragmented records, or represent you before the IRS. When the software produces a number you cannot verify or defend, that is when you need a CPA who understands both the technology and the tax code. We work alongside the major platforms and understand where they break.
It starts with a consultation where we assess your situation, identify where the risks and gaps are, and scope the work. From there, we collect your transaction data, reconstruct or verify your cost basis, reconcile against any broker-reported forms, prepare or amend your returns, and deliver audit-ready documentation. Ongoing clients receive proactive planning throughout the year.
If your activity spans multiple wallets, exchanges, or chains, if you have DeFi or NFT positions, if you have missing cost basis from transfers or early acquisitions, if you received a 1099-DA with no basis reported, or if your portfolio is large enough that errors create material tax exposure, you need professional guidance. The complexity compounds with each year of activity, and the cost of getting it wrong increases under the new IRS reporting regime.
Schedule a consultation through our contact page. We will review your situation and tell you exactly what you need — whether that is a single-year filing, a multi-year reconstruction, ongoing accounting, or IRS notice response. There is no obligation and no pressure.
